Well, we made it to Guatemala!  It is absolutely beautiful here.  We’re within walking distance of a lake surrounded by volcanoes which is a fantastic view.  We also made it here during their rainy season which means rain every afternoon.  Not just any kind of rain though.  It pretty much floods.  We’ve gotten to spend time a lot of time with the locals here when we’re not in training and that’s been awesome!  There’s one little boy in particular who’s taken a liking to our team.  His name is Jesus and he’s 7.  He loves to follow us around, talk with us, and today he even sat in on one of our sessions only to end up falling asleep in one of my teammates laps.  He also happens to be a huge help as a translator!

Right now, we’re almost done with our week of training before we start full time ministry for the month.  I’ve had the opportunity to learn so much about my teammates and about myself.  For instance, apparently it’s not about me…who knew right?  Throughout this week we’ve been told one thing over and over.  Your teammates are more important than you are.  One of our leaders asked of us “do you prefer your team over yourself?”  What she meant was will I take the bad seat on the bus so Trish doesn’t have to?  Does Amy’s comfort matter more than my own?  I can just see the times in the past where I said “NO her comfort does not matter more than mine! how dare she!”  But at some point we have to all suck it up and realize the truth.  It’s not about me…it’s about Amy, Jared, Scott, Trish, Amanda, Becky, and Dan.  So here we go folks!

Just a short update for you, Saturday morning my team will hop on a bus and drive 8 hours to the Caribbean coast of Guatemala for our 3 weeks of ministry (I know beautiful right?!).  Once I find out what type of ministry we’ll be doing I’ll let you know! Thank you all again for your prayers and support!!
