I have the coolest job in the world right now.
In a matter of four
days last week I got to:
Go on a horseback safari at Mt. Elgon
in Kenya. I like the way Kenyans say Animals. They say it like
“An-eee-mahl-ays.” Makes me giggle everytime. They also say
“Mo-squee-toes”. Hehehe. We got to see Rhinos, Impalas, Zebras,
Antelope, and Giraffes. Touched the Rhino’s booty and kissed the
Giraffe. So fun.
The next day we left Kachibora to catch up with Alex’s team, as we would be crossing the border into Uganda with them. Their contact took us to this awesome waterfall. It had a huge cave carved out behind it, so we could walk behind and around it. So beautiful.
And THEN…two days later I got to raft the Nile! I think I almost died a few times, got stuck in some rapids, and bonked on the head a few times. But I lived through the day. One of the funnest things I have ever done!
Here in Uganda we are working with another church in Kampala. The only word I can think of to describe this place is CHAOS. The dusty streets are abuzz until late in the night, boda bodas(or motorcycles) are swerving about from every angle. Even the individuals around here seem to carry an air of confusion and chaos about them. We are again preaching twice a day (under the Juktfruit tree), and doing much door to door ministry.
Casey and I are quite sick today, so we are staying back. Two things I will say about this subject and then I will leave it alone: Never trust a sneeze, and never trust a fart.
Like I said… I have the coolest job in the world right now: Safaris, rafting, getting to share the hope I have found in Jesus on a daily basis. Amazing opportunities. But they come at a cost. So please continue to pray for our team. For health, energy, stamina (to come up with the 62!!! sermons we have to preach this month), and peace in this chaotic environment.
