Thank you to Debbie Hardy who purchased Sunday, March 22!
Saturdays and Sundays were our days off this month but even though they were days off from “formal ministry” we still were able to minister to those around us. Sunday was our contact’s son’s birthday (Lyle) and he turned 12! We started off the day at church and had a great message about God making us in His image as the trinity (“Let US make man in OUR image”).
Afterwards, we went home and packed our bags to head off to Cape Point. Cape Point is the FARTHEST southern tip of the whole of AFRICA. We were able to spend the day with Lyle, our contact and his other son Blake, and three other neighborhood boys we have been ministering to all month (Ben, Joseph, and Alister). It was so much fun to spend the day with Ben, Joseph, and Alister. Our contact ministers to them on a regular basis and disciples them to grow into strong men of faith. While we have been ministering to many neighborhood children this month, those three are the core and ones that are going to really lead others in the neighborhood. We enjoyed a day of getting to show them areas that not too many people from the neighborhood are fortunate to go to as their parents don’t tend to care to take them to see different parts of South Africa.
While at Cape Point, we were able to play and swim with the boys in an “ocean pool” and then we went off to the two southern tips to take pictures.
The wind was so strong at Cape Point as it came off the ocean, but it was still so soothing.
On our way down from the cliffs at Cape Point, we got the opportunity to see quite a few baboons! I absolutely ADORE monkeys, baboons, gorillas, chimps, etc. so any time I get to see them I get super excited! We saw a few momma baboons with their babies and even saw a few baboons chase a few people (some might not find that interesting, but considering no one was hurt, I found it quite amusing).
I had been having a rough week of feeling distant from God in my personal life, but being at Cape Point and seeing the Atlantic and Indian Ocean collide together, feeling the intense wind, seeing one of my favorite animals in nature free from a cage and standing on many high cliffs (as I love to do as often as possible) provided a way for me to connect with God and feel His presence so strongly. After our journey to Cape Point, I felt so refreshed, rejuvenated, and renewed; ready for our last week in South Africa. It was a great day full of favor from God and Ms. Debbie Hardy, YOU had a hand in the day being so awesome! Thank you so much for purchasing the 22nd of March!
