This was my first Thanksgiving away from home.
I was super thankful that I was able to complete my 5th annual Turkey Trot here in Nicaragua! And I'm proud to announce that I was the first place winner of Palacaguina's first 5k Turkey Trot! 🙂
The next step to my day was not a shower, but helping prepare 100 bags of food to distribute to the community. I really enjoyed doing that! The bags of food included beans, rice, sugar, salt, spaghetti, oil, coffee & toilet paper. We had 64 bags ready to go that morning, but no one ever came to distribute them with us, so it got postoned and rescheduled till the afternoon and the following day, which is typical here.
I eventually showered and got ready for the day. I blow dried my hair straight; it was amazing and kind of a big deal! It felt good to get dressed up. I wore my little black dress with my team mate's scarf (Thanks Katie!). I felt beautiful, which was perfect because I got to go skype my awesome boyfriend that afternoon! (and say hello to the whole Crawford clan :)). That in itself was refreshing.

Finally the time came for us to gather around the table as a newly formed family and enjoy the feast set before us. We went around the table saying what we were thankful for as we began to eat the turkey that we killed ourselves the day before (after getting the turkey drunk! Our contact told us that we needed to do that in order to keep the meat tender, so we bought the cheapest alcohol in town :)).
We ate well that evening thanks to a few girls off my team who stayed at the house to cook the whole day. We had turkey, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, mixed veggies, toast, pineapple, popcorn balls & oatmeal raisin cookies! It was pretty amazing, in my opinion, that we were able to make and have all of that here in Nicaragua! It was definitely a blessing–especially to experience and enjoy it all with such great people.

Thank you Jesus!

Praise the Lord with me for all the work that He has done in Nicaragua thus far and is continuing to do! Give thanks for the way that He is continually softening the hearts of the people here and drawing them to Himself.
Please pray for everyone that came to the Crusade, that their lives would be different because of it, whether they prayed to receive Christ for the first time, have been believers for years or still haven't accepted Jesus as their Savior yet, that they would come to know Him and His immense love for them in a deep and personal way.
