Today I woke up in Guatemala. It’s beginning to feel real. I still cannot wrap my head around the thought that I will be gone for the next 11 months though. I think we are all still in the honeymoon phase, which I don’t mind at all. I pray that our positive attitude and eagerness to serve one another lasts the rest of our 11 month adventure/ journey together.

I started out my morning by reading Isaiah 61. “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor, he has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.” I am praying that He would use me to do those things. I am asking Him to show Himself to me more so that I may look more like Him and less like myself.
We arrived in Guatemala City last night. We have a 4 hour bus ride with probably at least a dozen more people on the bus than there should be… oh and all of our stuff (our massive & heavy packs) are riding on top! Haha! Next stop: Santa Cruze del Quiche!

I am currently sitting on the rooftop of a gated community where I can see the mountains in every direction. There is a natural majesty of the city with this beautiful backdrop, but the housing looks a bit rough. Many homes appear to need a little tender love & care, but I am thankful, as it reminds me that I am not in America. It reinforces that I am now in Guatemala and allows me to experience the newness of the place around me. Praise the Lord for that.

Please pray:
That I would be fully present with each day and with each opportunity to love.
That I would be content with where I am and simply enjoy EACH day, remembering that every day is a gift from God.
That I would learn to be more selfless and quick to recognize the needs of others, as well as meet the needs that I see whenever possible.
Thanks for your partnership! I still have about $5,500 left to raise 🙂
