Thought i would share a little bit of the book i started reading tonight…
Its throwing an entire new look on missions, and how we can reach people around us…
REFORMISSION- a radical call to reform churches traditionally flawed views of missions as something carried out only in foreign lands and to focus instead on the urgent need in our neighborhoods, which are filled with the diverse cultures of Americans who desperately need the gospel of Jesus
Acts 1:8 “but when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive the power and will tell people about me everywhere- in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to all ends of the earth”
Let us remember that missions starts with where we are NOW! not just leaving where we are to go do missions elsewhere! If we aren’t sharing the gospel now, what makes us think we will share the gospel effectively elsewhere?
Jesus has called us to…
-The gospel (loving our Lord)
-The culture (Loving our neighbor)
-The church (loving our brother)
gospel+culture-church= PARACHURCH
culture+church-gospel= LIBERALISM
church+gospel-culture=FUNDAMENTALISM
This quote really stuck out to me as i was reading….
“the longer someone is a Christian, the greater their propensity to diminish the Jesus of the Bible until he becomes a predictable little God who ceases to surprise them”
I DON’T WANT TO BECOME LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!
THE ANSWER FOR NOT BECOMING LIKE THIS IS>>>>>>>>>>>>
WE MUST STICK CLOSE TO JESUS
