Well, i had an awesome weekend in Red River Gorge… we didn’t get to go canoing, but we did get to rock climb, go caving, and hike to the natural bridge.
The weekend itself, outside of activities, was all about renewal. I really needed the reminder that being a follower of Christ is not just about being committed to him, but it also includes daily renewing my mind, and being prepared to be able to combat with Satan at the lies he throws at me. Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewal of your mind
, that by testing you may
discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect… Renewing your mind… as i read that now, i wonder exactly what renewal means…
renewal = the state or process of being made spiritually new in the Holy Spirit… Oh man… how i need this everyday… The renewal of our mind leads us to be able to discern the will of God. “Trust in the lord with all your heart, and lead not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your path”… “delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart”… i believe all these verses are apart of the renewing process… trusting in the Lord with all our heart, and delighting in him… Fully trusting in the Lord will allow us to be completely reliant on him alone and not ourselves, and delighting in him, will make his desire our desire and therefore we will know the will of God… WOW!!!!!!!!!!
Along with renewal of the mind, we also studied putting off the Old, and putting on the New… It’s definitely a process when it comes to the Christian life. If only it were as easy as, saying a prayer… but it’s not! Obedience, and faith, and the daily decision to follow Christ are what allow a person to be apart of the family of God.
