How do we Measure Success?

This blog comes in reply to all those that ask…

How did your fundraiser go? Or

How is fundraising going? (not that I am annoyed at all)

A valid question, considering the importance it is to have funding for a year of mission work and a measurable goal of (easily) $14,000.00

My account is at $9200.00!! I have had money to buy equipment and pay for flights as well… I just got my vaccination bill which blew me out of the water… almost $2000.00. I will have to come up with… my dental work was a surprisingly large amount as well… in either event… I am not concerned about funding… even though I need more…

God will provide. I know. I am thankful for my current funds and the giving hearts that have gotten me this far.

It is interesting though how God has me raise the money. Not that He suggested beer bashes by any means… but how much work and effort on my part it takes to gather these funds. My family and friends have played a significant role in this and I could have never done any of this without their help.

The way I fundraise has almost a networking style to it… where I fully intend on being in touch with the people who have helped. It feels like I need to share my life with as many people as possible.

I get the $20.00 here and there, whereas other teammates may get the $500.00 here and there… with much less effort.

I have to think that God just wants me to keep on keeping on and to continue to relentlessly plug away at testifying His love and the work He is doing in my life to as many people as I can.

So this measure of success thing.

Yes. I am doing well… financially with the goals set before me…

But I am doing PHENOMENAL when it comes to the time spent with friends and family in the process of this thing called fundraising.

The commitment and love that I have felt through all of this is so amazing and fulfilling that I say success is achieved through the relationships in my life and the way that God chooses to use me in their lives as well.
Fundraising is not always fun… let me tell you.

It is hard work and it requires patience and vulnerability.
It requires reaching out to others even when you are used to doing things on your own.
It requires trusting others to do their part because you simply can’t do it all.

It requires one to delegate tasks and jobs to others and stepping aside for a bit to watch them grow and shine in those things.

God is so good… and such a wonderful and patient teacher. The ultimate ‘Raiser’, of funds, spirits, abilities, relationships, and raiser of our heart desires.

How I measure success… isn’t in the money. It never has been. Money can be great, and it is needed. But my success is the smiles on the faces of the people I encounter, the lives that I am able to touch, by the grace of God. And the Love that I feel from my Lord above, living in the knowing that I am fulfilling the very thing God is calling me to do at this point in my life. Obedience.

This is Success… and it’s a Never-Ending thing.
Continuous work, continuous trial,
continuous gratification,
continuous growth,

              Continuous Glory to God!
