Sorry it has been a while since my last post. Life has been busy and I was waiting to be inspired.
Last night my whole immediate family got together for my mom’s birthday dinner. There are 18 of us and this is hard to do during the school year. The two youngest are in college and usually not around for Sunday night family dinners. We even took a picture to prove it ๐
I just sat there last night soaking up the time I had with my family. I have been truly blessed to have the family that I have. Being with them got me thinking a bit… to get to know me then you have to get to know them. My crazy, wonderful, chaotic, amazing and beautiful family has helped shape me into who I am. So the next few posts are going to be for my family. I will start with the patriarch and matriarch of the Eddy clan. I have secretly always thought my parents are superheroes. I don’t know how they raised 7 kids the way that they did. They are the heartbeat of our family.
Meet Mike Eddy (referred to as ‘dad’ by his kids and ‘Coach’ by his grandkids): He is a hard-working, work out addicted, funny and loving man. I could not be more proud to call him my father.
Dad,
Thank you for being you. You have taught me so much about life and about a father’s love. You have taught me how to be faithful, caring, kind, loving, and hard working. You have pushed me to be a better person and supported me always. I love that you have never met a stranger and you have a way of making people feel comfortable. I also secretly love that you are a habitual line crosser even though I might cringe or roll my eyes at times. I love your super human powers of being the most athletic man in the world ๐ Thank you for being all of our number one fan and almost never missing a sporting event. I love our dinner dates especially when you pay (jk… kind of)! I really love our dinner dates because I have gotten to know your heart and I love your heart. Thank you for your sense of humor… I love your cackle. I know you are the most nervous for me to go on this journey and therefore, your support has meant the most to me. Thank you for trusting me and trusting in God’s plans for me. Most importantly, thank you for being the best earthly father 7 kids could ask for.
I love you more than words can describe,
Rachie
Meet Mary Eddy (referred to as “mom” by her kids and ‘mimi’ by her grandkids): She is a patient, kind and lovable lady. I could not be more proud to call her my mom.
Mom,
Thank you for being not only an amazing mother but an amazing friend! You have taught me how to be supportive, fair, compassionate, patient, and understanding. You are a true example of what it means to put others before yourself. Thank you for your constant support… even when you might think my ideas are a little crazy. I love that we all think we are your favorite child. I love your super human powers at being a jack of all trades (driver, teacher, coach, mother, chef, cleaner, contractor… the list could go on forever). I love how patient you are… I’m not sure how you have remained so patient with 7 kids making incredibly smart decisions all the time ๐ I love our lunch dates and the conversations that come with them. Thank you for talking to me on the phone multiple times a day. Thank you for taking care of me when I’m sick even though I live in my own house and am 28 years old. Thank you for teaching us what it means to love. Thank you for supporting me on this journey! Thank you for being the best mom 7 kids could ask for and for being my best friend!
I love you to pieces,
Rach
