March 8 is recognized as International Women’s Day.  It’s a day to recognize accomplishments made by women all over the world.  It’s also a day to remind us of all the impoverished women in the world and to stand up for them on their behalf.  Many of them live on less than $2 per day.

I actually didn't know about this until today smiley.  I've never heard about it before but when I did, it stuck out especially to me because of some of the women I've met along this World Race journey.

In India, I saw a culture where women are looked at as objects, as the lowest in society.  They sit in another room to eat after all the men are finished.  They must wear clothes to cover themselves ankle to neck.  It is rare for a women to have a job outside the home or to have a say in anything.

In Africa, I saw women who were tired and weary because they raised their children as well as worked to make money for their family, while their husbands went out and spent it all on alcohol.
I met many women who have several children, whose husbands have left them for another woman.

Now I'm in Thailand.  If a women touches a monk he is considered unclean and must do certain cleansing rituals to be able to re-enter society.

I see women working on the streets and in bars here, selling their bodies to make money to support their families.  Women in brothels, who have had everything stolen from them and are forced to live in a life of slavery.

Think about the women and girls in your life.  You love them, care for them, and would choose the best for them.

There are too many women in the world who aren’t loved.  Aren’t cared for.  Don’t have a voice.  Who are abused.  Abandoned.  Looked down upon.  Shamed.  Stolen from.  Violated.  On and on and on….

It breaks my heart to see these women who are helpless and stuck in situations where their future seems bleak and dismal.  We need to speak for them.  To speak to them.

When I get a chance to talk to one of these women, I tell her who God says she is.
That she is a loved daughter of God.  That He is opening His arms to her, wanting her to run to Him.  That she is valuable, and worth far more than rubies.

I let her know that there is a hope and a future.  That God formed her in the womb and knows her.  He knows the plans He has for her, to give her a hope and a future.  He came to give her abundant life and wants to see her accept that.
Consider who you can speak these truths to today.  Take a minute and say a prayer for these women all over the world.
