I’ve grown up with the idea that monkeys are cute little animals living simple lives, climbing trees and eating bananas for a living.
I mean, who doesn’t love Curious George?
In India, monkeys are as common as dogs in the streets. Except these aren’t the cute Curious George types. We’ve been told to avoid them because they are mean and will bite. They roam around on the rooftops like they own the places. The flat roofs here are used as places to hang clothes to dry, play areas for children, and a place to enjoy the cooler air once the sun goes down.
I've gotten in the routine of getting up at 6:30 and spending awhile on our roof having quiet time and a workout before breakfast. This morning I was walking upstairs- an outside staircase- and I saw some monkeys on the buildings across from our apartment- about 12 or 15 of them, and some with babies.
I see a great photo opportunity so I pull out my camera- I've learned to never go anywhere without it- being careful not to make a disturbance. I also took a video in which several started fighting and it turned out to be pretty sweet footage. I snapped a few pics, no big deal.

I FROZE! I had no idea what to do! Snakes, bears, angry dogs, dealt with them, know what to do.
What do you do with monkeys?! Run? Yell at it? Hit/kick? Beat it to the ground?
