X Squad
I went into Training Camp open to whatever was in store because I really wasn't sure what to expect. I did think that we'd be living in similar situations that we might find ourselves in on the race as well as being put into teams that we would be living and serving with. It was these things but also so much more! It would take me pages and pages to try to tell everything that happened and even then I couldn't portray it like it truly was. Here's some things that were meaningful for me during the week:
- Inner healing. There was a focus on letting go of our past, emotional baggage we were carrying, forgiving ourselves and others. Getting rid of this helps us to be able to serve others better and bring them freedom, life, and hope.
- Recognizing the freedom I have in Christ
- Learning about different countries and their cultures. We ate authentic foods from different cultures, learned about the customs, languages, and various living situations that we might encounter.
- Realizing the power I have as a child of God to speak life and freedom to others, be able to heal, and the power of prayer.
- Being free to worship however we wanted. Everyone is unique and worships in so many different ways. What's important is that the focus is on God and giving Him all the glory. It was so refreshing spend time in worship and praise.
- Having to be flexible to whatever the plan was because most of the time we didn't know what was next on the schedule.
- Dealing with disappointments and the fact that things aren't always going to go as expected. The sooner I accept this the better off I'll be!
- Getting to know the 50 or so people on my squad and especially my new team of five other people who I'll be living in community with for the next several months (more to come about our team in a later blog!)
- Realizing even more how much this whole experience is going to be LIFE-CHANGING!
This is just a glimpse of the week. The most important thing is that the Lord has already begun to mold my heart to be more like His and this will be an ongoing process. It's kind of overwhelming while at the same time unbearably exciting to see Him currently at work and to think about what else is to come!!

We slept in tents for a few of the nights

Camping out one night with the whole squad
