Everything’s happening so fast! I have only 3 1/2 weeks until graduation on May 5th, about 6 weeks until training camp on May 21st, and less than 3 months until launch!! Thinking about all the changes that are about to happen is a little overwhelming.
Our living conditions on the Race will not be the same as we are used to in the U.S. From what I’ve heard we’ll be sleeping in tents some of the time (each of us are required to have a 2 person tent) and other times we’ll be staying in a pastor or missionary’s house- but even in the houses it will be crowded with an extra 6-8 people living there. We’ll have far less belongings than any of us would ever normally have for a year.
Everything I bring will fit into my pack that I can carry on my back and a small daypack. This includes a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, clothes, computer, a list of other things I’ve deemed necessary for my sanity for the trip! Looking at the list I made doesn’t seem very long but I’m sure once I start packing I’ll have to narrow it down.
I already have a lot of the gear I will need like a pack, and sleeping bag, and have recently been blessed with a brand new tent
. I am still in need of some gear and want to put it out there if anyone wants to support me by providing me with any of it.
Here’s the things I need:
–Thermarest Prolite Plus Women’s
–Osprey Daylite Accessory Pack
–Sea to Summit Compression Dry Sacks. One 10 Liter, One 15 Liter
–Vasque Velocity shoes -women's size 10
–Camera Battery, Olympus LI-50B
–Airporter bag. To protect my pack while on the planes
I need to have all my gear by the end of April. The websites I’ve given are definitely not the only places where these can be bought from and may not necessarily be the cheapest prices. If you shop around you might be able to find cheaper prices.
If you want to provide any of these things for me send me a message through my blog or email me at [email protected]. I’ll post a comment on this blog when someone has provided any of these things so other people know what has been taken care of.
Thanks everyone for your support and prayers!
