Sorry it has been so long since I have given an update. We did make it to Honduras, but we lack internet availability, so updates from here will be few.
This month my entire squad is living in the same place, we all have separate contacts that we are working with, but at the end of the day we all get to come back together and have supper and hang out. 52 of us living in communion; sleeping, eating and pooping in the same place. We have one bathroom (three toilet stalls and two showers) that we also share with the children who visit the property on a daily basis. Tents, hammocks and sleeping bags are littered all over the acre of land known as the property (or more commonly by us: “the compound”). The property is owned by Tony and Needia Dee. They work with the street youth in Los Pinos, a troubled neighborhood near Tegucigalpa. They have actually taken in several kids over the years, helping to raise them and give them a better life than what the streets can bring. They are an amazing couple whom we have really come to appreciate and love!
So what is KALEO doing? We are working with team FREEDOM at a church in Los Pinos. We are helping to teach English and working to start a sunday school program that they will hopefully be able to continue even after we leave.
Honestly this month has been really difficult. We feel locked up. Honduras is a very dangerous nation so we are rarely allowed to leave the compound except to go to our ministry sites. Unfortunately for KALEO, our ministry sight is in one of the most dangerous neighborhoods so we aren’t able to leave the one roomed church either. So please pray for the nation of Honduras, and patience for me probably wouldn’t hurt 🙂 Aside from that I also feel like the devil is attacking me a lot. I know that God is doing great things, both in my life and through ministry, but I just feel very discouraged and lost right now…
Overall it’s been a rough couple weeks, but God is good and He is faithful, teaching us new things every day. I will update again when I can, thank you so much for your prayers!
