Can I just state the obvious real quick… GOD IS GOOD!
So this last weekend was my final weekend in Portland. My final weekend to say goodbyes, play ultimate Frisbee, pack my stuff for storage and pack my bag for this next year. It was my weekend to move at double speed, to get all of those last things done. Sleep little, play lots and work hard. And that is exactly not at all how it went…
I recently told a friend, “I rarely get sick. Except once every two years in the fall I get very sick.” Called it…
I’ve been feeling sick for a while. I had my theories about what was causing it, and I thought I was dealing with it. By Friday of last week things finale got to a point where I couldn’t ignore them anymore. I realized I was out of time to wait it out and needed to go to the doctor. But I almost didn’t go. I was frightened that I would get told I couldn’t leave for my trip (which was four days away). I was worried that maybe, just maybe, this was a little more serious than I had initially thought and I didn’t want the confirmation. So I went to immediate care hoping they’d tell me I was being a baby. Hoping they give me a magic pill and it would all go away. But no, the doctor gave me a direct order… “get to the ER now”… ugh.
Seven hours (and a long story) later I woke up from surgery. Yep surgery, appendectomy to be exact. The thing is, God REALLY showed up in this situation. I have been so amazed. First off, my appendix wasn’t even where it was supposed to be so it’s amazing they caught it. Second, my surgeon has been to the city and country that I am going to first, which is the only reason he is signing off on me going! There have been so many other little things that have happened that keep making me say, “God is Good!” And to think I was worried.
So tomorrow I climb on a plane to Guatemala. I am so ready 🙂
Please keep me in your prayers. I am still healing; carrying my packs isn’t a very comfortable thing. Pray that there are no infections or complications. That I get back my strength quickly and am not hindered from doing ministry.
Thanks Everyone. Look forward to my next update, cause it will be from Guatemala!
