There was this one night that my team had together in Africa that I’ll never forget. We were just sitting around this table, talking about some different theories about Jesus’s life one night. Emma started talking about the relationships Jesus had while on earth and we were all saying what we believe is true, even though the Bible doesn’t really say too much about it. We realized that we don’t really know anything for sure(yet) about the topic. We all ended up having different opinions on what happened but that was okay. It was actually great. We were all able to say what we believe and even though we didn’t agree with each other, and we could respect that.

I love hearing people own their faith. Claiming it as their own. It was so refreshing for me! I’ve noticed a lot of times in my conversations with people that we try to persuade each other to believe what we believe, or we end up arguing about things. There’s so many different theories and beliefs out there, and you’ll never fully agree with someone on everything. It’s impossible. But It’s okay to disagree because we have to own our faith.

How else will we be able to stand strong through trials?

So often us Christians go to church, try to read our Bible during the week and pray, but we’re so caught up in our Christian bubble that we don’t even realize that there’s so much more with our walk with God. The thing we have to realize eventually is that our walk with God is our own. I may experience him more during a hike, you may feel him more when you pray or while worshipping. No way is better than the other.

We need to stop putting limits on God and on our walk with God. We’re not going to be able to move mountains until we believe, until we truly believe. God says, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you”(Matthew 7:7). Step out of your comfort zone with Him! It doesn’t matter that your best friend doesn’t believe exactly what you do. He made us all uniquely beautiful in His own way, and none of our paths are the same. It’s time for us to stop believing what our parents believe and believe what we believe.

Don’t settle for what everyone else has, strive for what you believe is possible.

When will your walk with Jesus be your own? You only live once.
