We had to wake up early enough to get to the airport by 5am, of course everyone looked like zombies at this time. The whole time I was thinking about my bag; the weight limit was 50 lbs but I don’t know how to fit 9 months worth of stuff in a backpack under that limit! We got there and my bag ended up weighing 52 lbs, so I was about to take some things out but the lady said they give us an extra couple pounds…who knew! That was a relief.

Once we got on the plane I actually ended up sitting by no one I know which is funny since there were almost 40 of us on the plane. I felt a tug on my heart to talk to the guy next to me and ended up getting in a cool conversation with him about God. He’s agnostic. He’s not sure what he believes in and God didn’t put me there to persuade him about anything. I got to have some powerful conversations, which was a total God thing. We ended up talking for over an hour about different theories and religions which is not what I’m strong in, but it got him thinking. He started asking a lot of different questions about God and the Lord kept giving me the words to say to him. “You don’t need to know what to say, you just need to know where to turn”. Then a little while after that the other guy next to me started saying how he needs to go to church more and so on.

Ministry started on the plane. I guess what I’m trying to say is that most people look at going to orphanages, prison and hospitals as the only place for ministry when in actuality you shouldn’t discount the people next to you on the plane, bus or whatever to get there. Ministry is vast; it can look very different. It doesn’t just start when you get to your location, it starts now. For all of y’all back at home, look at the people next to you in line waiting to pay for your groceries or when you’re waiting for your Big Mac. Whether you’re going to El Salvador or Panera, God is setting up divine appointments along the way. God placed you there at that time and place for a reason. He’s given you each relationship you have for a reason. God doesn’t make mistakes. Don’t ever stop being the light. Whenever you feel that tug on your heart to talk to someone, do it. Be bold. You could be one step away from changing your or someone else’s life.
