We finally arrived in Cape Town South Africa on Friday September 13th after one eight hour plane ride, one ten hour plane ride, a one night stay in a hostel in Johannesburg and one eighteen hour bus ride. It felt great to finally be at our destination! God has really blessed our living situation this month! I am staying with a host mom and her 6 year old daughter. Our host mother works at a restaurant, so her cooking is fantastic and our food has been delicious! During the week we are working with Kingdom Sports Ministry, an organization which seeks to spread the gospel through sports outreach. Last week we were given the opportunity to minister to about 200 students at Simons Town school through different sports and games. In the mornings we worked with the 1st-3rd graders, running relays, playing sharks and minnows and working on some soccer skills. We usually ended the mornings with a devotional or a bible story for the kids. They were always so full energy and so excited to have us there. They were an absolute joy to work with!
In the afternoons, we met with the 4th-7th graders. During this time we played a bunch of different sports, hand games and group games to try to build relationships with the kids and talk to them about Christ. They were so fun to talk to and engage with!
Unfortunately, the kids are on a one week break next week, so we won't be able to see them again, but it was such a privilege to be able to get to know them and spend time with them this past week!
Next week, we'll be doing some street ministry and visiting a very poor area just outside of the community we're staying in, so prayers for that would be greatly appreciated!
