I have officially met and surpassed my first financial deadline of $3500! I am so thankful to everyone who has supported me through prayer and through financial giving. I have been completely blown away by the provision of God through the generosity of His people and the outpouring of encouragement I have received from the body of Christ. I could not be more thankful for everyone who has joined me on this journey! God has already far exceeded all of my expectations!
So much of this fundraising experience has been a humbling lesson in the faithfulness of God. Despite all my fears about this trip and despite my second guessing, God has provided the funds; He has provided me with reassurance through His word and through His people. He is faithful to provide. I want to trust in His faithfulness and not let fear prevent me from living the life that He intended for me.
As I have been preparing for this trip, buying tents and backpacks and sleeping pads etc., I have really been struggling with the fear of leaving behind friends, family and the comfort of everything I know, to step into a world of unknowns for the next year of my life. During a recent quiet time with Lord, I was reminded of the Israelites: God promised His people a good land where they would participate with God to display His glory, but because they were afraid of the giants that stood before them, the Israelites refused to obey God and enter into the promised land. I don't want fear to prevent me from entering my promised land, where I can participate with God to display His glory. So rather than being fearful of the giants in front of me, I will focus on the faithfulness of God, knowing that He has promised that He will provide and resting in the knowledge that He is bigger than all of the unknowns that I will face over the next year.
The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
-Romans 8:15
Thanks for partnering with me!
