I first must apologize. I haven’t been the best at updating my blog. I have spent time in Thailand, Cambodia, and Malaysia since my last blog in Kenya. SO much has happened since then.
I decided to not write a blog because I was still trying to outwork my last blogs in “Frozen” and “Truth in Unmet Expectations.” I wanted my actions to match up to the revelations God showed to me. The past few months, God has given me countless opportunities to put the truths He’s revealed to me into reality. This is a growing process, to say the least.
As I am now coming to an end on the race, I wanted to share what is on my heart.
In some of my blogs, I have referenced the power of music on the race. I brought a travel-sized cajon and I’ve taken it to every country. This little drum has allowed me to connect with people between the ages of 1 to 91, from Guatemala to Malaysia.
This past year has been an answer seen in reality, something God has had me walk through the past 5 years and what I heard Him speak to my heart when I applied for the race back in July of 2011. I felt to love people through music and create space where other musicians can do the same.
Music is common to all cultures. It is a powerful tool that transcends barriers. You don’t need to speak the same language when you have music that can communicate what words may not be able to.
Music unites people together.
Music is an explosive expression.
Music is movement.
Music reaches.
A woman on my squad, Kate, has a similar passion to music and the arts. We began sharing our hearts back in March. Our vision, dreams, and goals began to expand every time we talked. The vision with Kate grew from just the medium of music to all forms of art.
Kate and I have become close friends and have felt in our hearts to begin a creative arts ministry together after the race. We plan to move to Atlanta in just a few short months and begin to develop an NGO.
We want to love people through the arts. We want to create a space where others can build into their future in their medium. We want people to express THEIR story through their passions and talents. We want to build relationships with people and build into their lives through the means of the arts.
We are in the process of beginning to put this dream into a reality. When we land in California on December 3rd, we are spending several days meeting with artists from L.A., San Francisco, and Redding. We will then begin a road trip right after Christmas making our way to Atlanta where we will have more meetings. We will also be looking for a new place to live as we will move there the beginning of March.
We have a lot of work ahead of us, but we both feel a release to make a new home in Atlanta and go wherever God is leading. This is the biggest step of faith in my life as of yet. There are many fears going into this, but I know in Whom I can trust.
I write and ask for your support. Moving to a new city, uprooting my life for the 5th time in 6 years, saying goodbye to my dear family and friends…again, and treading into new territory sometimes feels overwhelming. I’ve realized this year how vital a strong community is to life. I need people. I couldn’t have done this race, raised the support, or walked through what I have without great people around me- my race community and my supporters back home.
This ministry needs support both financially and spiritually. As of now, all donations are going into my personal account, therefore, it will not be tax-deductible.
What I need:
Prayers. Lots of prayer!
We need prayer for the meetings. We have opportunities in California and Atlanta to share our vision and begin to partner with others to help get this ministry started.
We need prayer for housing, finances, partners, vision, and opportunities to begin this ministry.
Financially, I need $1,000 for support during my time in California and Atlanta.
This will cover food, gas, and lodging.
If you would like more information, or would like to support me, I will gladly talk to you more through email or in-person!
You can also send money to my Paypal account. Under the “Send Money” tab, enter my email address, [email protected], hit services and an amount.
Or you can send a check to my home address in Dallas.
Thank you all for your prayers, support, and love.
