A call to our Turkish brothers and sisters to look at the stars and reflect on Bethlehem during Christmas.
Christmas season 2009 was a Christmas of divine encounters. The couple of weeks before our Greater Grace International Christmas Choir debut, we flooded Istanbul with invitations. While some of us got “lost” in the process, we realized that really they were divine appointments that led people to our concerts. Ironically, the friends and family we personally invited to come didn’t come, others that God led us to off the beaten path, when we were lost, or through our posters did come and heard the Christmas gospel. He prepared the way for more to come to our concerts as we extended posters and invitations to strangers we met. Conversations and friendships began to develop and we look forward to building new relationships. Throughout the weekend of Christmas choir concerts, we celebrated several new members in God’s family.
As a special musical selection, Shekinah and our contacts, Liz and Roger, performed Born to Die by Shane and Shane. The simple message of this song has powerful ramifications for you and me.
When the babe was born
In a manger on the hay
God saw a veil torn
He saw Good Friday
He was born to die
Gold laid before the Christ
Incense, His presence is sweet
Myrrh to signify
Victory o’er death’s sting
He was born to die
It came in a dream
To Joseph late one night
That Herod sought the King
But could not take His life
He was born to die
He said “You won’t take my life!
You won’t take my life!
You won’t take my life!
I lay it down.” Sam, Monica, Priscilla, Brenda, Brittany, Rebecca, Austin
We came here today Roger and Liz Robbins
to celebrate His birth
Let us not forget
Why Jesus came to earth
He was born to die.
