Before I wrote this blog I had written another one. The previous one that I wrote was filled with clever transitions, descriptive adjectives and verbs, and a thought provoking message. I reviewed it and had all the grammar perfect and then right before I had decided to post it I deleted it.
You may be thinking “why would he delete it” or you may just know what I am getting at.
At first I thought that I wanted to write a good blog so that people would be challenged or encouraged, but as I began to pray and think about it the reality was that I was only writing an “incredible” blog because I want people to be amazed at my writing ability or at how meaningful my thoughts are.
I wanted more people to want to read my blog and subscribe.
I wanted more comments than other bloggers.
I wanted you to think what I had to say was important,
what I have to say is important….
But the reality is that unless what I have to say points to the glory of God then it is absolutely useless to even say.
“The creature has not only to look back to the origin and first beginning of existence, and acknowledge that it there owes everything to God; its chief end, its highest virtue, its only happiness, now and through all eternity, is to present itself an empty vessel, in which God can dwell and manifest His power and goodness”
- Andrew Murray
We are always glorifying something in what we say and do and the reality is, if we really analyze our motives, it is most likely for our own magnification just like writing a beautiful blog is for my exaltation.
All of us have pride infesting us to the very core.
We want glory for our names sake but the reality is that we were not created to receive glory rather we were created to reflect the glory of the Creator!
So as you read this look into your own life. I promise you that pride has made its nest in your heart and has set up shop just like it has in mine.
Petition the Lord that he would humble you. That you truly would be an empty vessel in which God could dwell.
“The call to humility has been too little regarded in the Church because its true nature and importance has been too little apprehended. It is not a something which we bring to God, or He bestows; it is simply the sense of entire nothingness, which comes when we see how truly God is all, and in which we make way for God to be all.”
- Andrew Murray
I want to be broken and humbled before the Lord. I want everything I say to be discounted if that is what brings him praise. If my entire life is spent far from the eyes of man giving God every ounce of life and effort that I have, that is a life worth living.
That way when we get to the end of our lives we can hear god say “well done my good and faithful servant.
God Bless!
