Hi there! My name is Phil and I am on sqad Q for the world race. I am super excited about the opportunity to serve others, serve God, and also see the world and God's heart for it. Let me tell you a bit about myself.
I am currently 23 years old and am living in State College, PA. I work for a Christian college ministry called Cru at Penn State University. I graduated from Penn State in May of 2012 with a degree in Nutritional sciences. Initially I intended on going directly into medical school but over the past year I have felt God directing me to work for Cru as an intern and now with the World Race.
I have been walking with the Lord since I was 14 when I gave my life to him after attending a Christian camp that taught us how to minister to inner-city children. Since then I have tried to honor God in all that I do. He has given me a heart for serving those who are less fortunate and also to bring him glory with my life. Since being involved with Cru during my college years though my faith has become so much more important and central to my life. He is my primary focus and I have a desire to honor him in all that I do.
As for my personality and what I like to do, I am a pretty laid back guy who loves adventure. If there is an outdoor or athletic activity going on I am always there. I often backpack, rock climb, hike, snowboard, fish, or do other types of outdoor activities. I also love sports. You name a sport and I will want to play it.
I tend to enjoy being very organized and clean with what I have but I really love living with very minimal stuff. The idea of living out of a backpack is very attractive to me because I get to live with only the things that I need so that I can focus much more on relationships with others, serving those around me, and sharing the gospel instead of worrying about stuff.
Also I love to share the gospel. I believe that we are all called to share our faith with those who do not know Christ yet and bringing glory to God in this way is the joy of my life.
I am very excited to see how God changes my life on this trip and how he will use our team to serve and minister to those who are broken and in need of a savior. He is so wonderful and kind and worthy of our lives!
