So as I was sitting at the back of the van yesterday
travelling down to Jacksonville, Florida, and since this trip is based on Luke
10, I did a little study of when Jesus sent out His disciples in Matt 10, Mark
6, and Luke 9 and 10. A few things stood out to me.
1. Go to the believers
Our Tour mainly is to the Dreamers
/ sleeping giants / believers whose dreams need to be woken up.
Matt 10: 5 Jesus sent out the twelve apostles with these
instructions: “Don’t go to the Gentiles or the Samaritans, but only to the
people of Israel – God’s lost sheep.
2. Leave at once
Without extensive preparation.
Mark 6: 8-9 He (Jesus) told them to take nothing for their
journey except a walking stick – no
food, no traveler’s bag, no money. He allowed them to wear sandals but not to
take a change of clothes.
2. Trust in God’s care
Rather than in our own resources.
Go out ready for duty and travel, unencumbered by excess material goods.
Matt 10: 9-10 “Don’t take any money in your money belts –
no gold, silver, or even copper coins. Don’t carry a traveler’s bad with a
change of clothes and sandals or even a walking stick.”
3. Give
The morning before we left for the
tour, God kept giving me the word ‘give’. I realized that instead of keep on wanting
to GET something out of this trip, I should GIVE.
Matt 10: 8 GIVE as freely as you have received!
4. Announce His Kingdom
By both
preaching and healing.
Luke 9: 2 Then He sent them out to tell everyone about the
Kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
5. Pray for workers
Begin by mobilizing people to pray.
Pray that more workers will come to the field.
Luke 10: 2 The harvest is great, but the workers are few.
So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more
workers into his fields.
6. Prepare these towns for the Lord’s visit
Luke 10: 1 The Lord now chose seventy-two other disciples
and sent them ahead in pairs to all the towns and places he planned to visit.
7. Be alert
Face your
enemies not with aggression, but with love and gentleness.
as lambs among wolves.
