Month in Peru in pictures.

Laredo, Peru, where we were this month.
It’s near the coast but very desert like. It is surrounded by brown, dry mountains and very dusty.

We all stayed with different host families. Tiffany and I stayed with the Pastor’s family. They have a 10 year old son Herson, 5 year old daughter Mixie, and 2 years old Daniel.

The second day we arrived it was Hope’s birthday, and her host family did this big celebration for her. So sweet!

Every morning at 8:40am we are picked up by our 19 year old ‘bodyguard’ from our houses.

to go to the church.

After breakfast at the church prepared by the lovely ladies there, we had team time. This month we studied the book of James and tried to memorize Romans 12.

After lunch, we would do home visits from 4-7pm.

After dinner, it’s volleyball time! We played so much volleyball this month.

On weekends, we had children’s ministry, youth services, and church services.

On 2 Sundays, we gave our testimonies during service.

On our off days, we went to Trujillo, a bigger town 30 minutes away…….

Went to the beach, (it’s the Pacific Ocean!) ……..

And went to the Chan Chan ruins.

Other than that, we also did a lot of fun things such as ……

Celebrating birthdays. We celebrated so many birthdays here. Apparently the 18th birthday is a big thing here with an extremely elaborate cake and a big celebration. Kind of like the 21st birthday celebration elsewhere.

Cooking lesson. I learned how to cook Cabrito, which is young ram. Really delicious.

That’s Christi-an’s ‘mom’ on the second left who gave me the cooking lesson. She used to be a chef! And after that dining with the Camilo family.

Play cards.

Attended a wedding and did a silly song+dance choreography (opps my teammates would not like me saying that it was silly).

Played the dart game all the time! Even little kids and grown ups got involved.

Learned to make bracelets.

And made bracelets for people.

One fine Sunday morning, the whole church went to the ‘campo’ (village).

We had a short message and worship at the field.

And then went to climb some sand dunes right behind the field.

Took pictures with a goat.

After that, more volleyball and dart game!

Some very sweet memories.

The adorable old ladies who cooked for us everyday.

Tailor made shoes as a parting gift to us from the church.

14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

But most of all, the people there. Their love, kindness and generosity was what made this month so memorable.

We love you!
