Tomorrow is the last day of our ministry at Dominican
Republic. My goodness, time really flies. We’ll be flying out on Feb 3rd
to Miami airport, then flying to Peru then to Ecuador on the same day. Next
month all the teams are going to be alone except for 2 teams. It’s gonna be
interesting.
Remember the last blog I wrote about my doubts of making any
impact in such a short time? I’ve come to know that God can do mighty things.
Yokairi, the 6 years old little girl whose back was burned on Christmas day
last year is one such blessing that God has given to us this month. We have
seen amazing improvements in her and her family. Each day her skin is healing
and she is more and more cheerful. One day she even said to her brother “You
should go to church”. Her family members are non-Christians, but everyday
Pastor Selanda and a few of our team members visit her, to clean and dress her
wounds. And this is what she said one day out of nowhere. Who knows how God
will continue to work in her life? I am reminded of the life of Zaccheus, how
because of this one changed life, the whole city changed when Zaccheus decided
to pay back 4 times of everything he had cheated people out of. That one
changed life could be the impact that the family needs, the impact that the
village needs, that the town needs, that the country needs. We just don’t know
how what we are doing will make an impact, and all we can do is to remain
faithful.
Yokairi, the little burned girl.
What about our ministry on the streets with the kids then?
All we do everyday is play with them. What impact does that make? One of my
teammates gave this great insight: We are paving the way for the next World
Racers, or any ‘outsiders’ to come and love on them, just as previous World
Racers have set the ground for them to so easily embrace us, and we are able to
share a little piece of God’s love for them. I pray that they will remember the
little sprinkles of God’s love that was showered on them.

Continue to pray for us especially for the coming month of ministry in Ecuador!
