So there I was … In the back of a pickup truck with 12 other people in the pouring rain soaked head to toe. However, it didn’t matter because I was about to enter someone’s home where they couldn’t get away from the rain. These people didn’t know any difference because they have been living on the streets their whole lives.
Last night we had an opportunity to minister to those living on the street. We hopped off the truck and walked over to a bridge where I met a boy, Christian, and his sister. Christian is two years old and he lives with his family on the street. This little boy has no choice to live in a home or on the street… he’s only a boy. Yet, in our lives we have so many choices. Sometimes we make bad choices and sometimes we make good choices. Life is all about choices. I want to encourage you to take time to notice those around you. Last night I had a choice to go and to be a light in their lives or just to stay home. I praise God that I took the opportunity to love on them. Instead, I think they were more of a light to me than I was to them. They didn’t care about the rain or what they were wearing. They were just excited to see us. If you can put a smile on someone’s face in a day, I think that’s all that matters.
