The woman sat on the bed weeping uncontrollably as she cradled her small daughter in her arms. I felt so helpless as I watched them, so discouraged that there was nothing I could do to aid them. As I stood in the corner observing, I felt worthless because I could do nothing. I have so much, I’ve been blessed with EVERYTHING! Yet I could do nothing to help this mother heal the sickness of her daughter. And so I prayed. Prayed for healing, for blessing, for the life of this mother and her small child.
This is just one of many stories from daily life in Kenya. My team, based in the small border city of Busia, has been doing door-to-door ministry during the mornings and visiting and praying for the sick at one of the district hospitals in the evenings. I’ve been having such a wonderful stay at Reverend Gideon’s home! He and Mama have blessed us so greatly, and I’m so excited to be able to be a blessing back to them! Since they blessed us with free lodging, we were able to use the funds from that to help them install a pump that gives them running water for the toilet and shower. It’s so wonderful to actually be able to shower in a normal shower with hot water now!
Today, we began searching for street kids to minister to. I thought it would be difficult, but we easily found three which grew to ten which grew to forty. It was so overwhelming! And so sad, the need that these kids have, and the fact that no one seems to care. These kids desire to go to school and desire to have a family and a place where they can sleep and be safe. It’s so sad that every time money comes into the picture, people run away from the problem. But running away doesn’t fix the problem; the problem is still there.

I’m so excited to do this work! I feel like I’m actually going to be able to make a difference, one that I can see, one that is tangible. These kids live on the street, existing day to day by begging, sniffing glue to get high, and sleeping in packs at night for safety. It breaks my heart. Our hope is to one day provide a comfortable dwelling for the kids, a place that they can call home and feel safe and loved. In the meantime, we are providing breakfast for them in the morning – chapatti and tea. We also rescued one girl who was recently hit by a semi; the police are so corrupt that they allowed to driver get away and wouldn’t take her to the hospital. This afternoon, we bathed, fed, and clothed her as well as took her to the hospital for treatment. Pray that God blesses us in our continued ministry!
I’m so blessed to be fully-funded! But the other members of my team still need more support. If you can support them in any way, click on their name on our team blog and go to the support link.
Things to pray for –
Safety for my team and myself

Openness of the hearts of the people we’re ministering to
Love from Kenya to all of you! Hope I get to talk to you soon 😀
