One of my sisters on this race (Ashley Higgins) is a very talented writer and video blogger. She is also my teammate and if you haven’t subscribed to her blogs, you should ( click here and add your email address). Here are two of my favorite videos she recently posted.

“Bringing Hope to Africa” – by Ashley Higgins

since being in africa we have seen a lot
of things.  we’ve seen poverty, desperation and hopelessness.  we’ve
seen children walking around without shoes and kids who are literally
starving.  we’ve seen HIV/AIDS patients in the hospital; writhing in
pain, only days away from dying.  we’ve seen mothers mourning over
children they’ve lost and children grieving over a parent choosing to
leave.  we’ve talked with people who are literally demon possessed and
spend their days in fear and trepidation over a power they do not
understand.  we’ve seen people walking around in chains of condemnation
with no place to turn. needless to say, we’ve seen a lot.

“Jesus Loves Barak” – by Ashley Higgins

and not just obama.
while in tanzania i had the privilege of seeing many stories of
redemption unfold before my eyes. the lord was moving in such
sovereign and unique ways that it is hard to even explain. my sister, birkleigh,
introduced me to a young man named barack. they met on her way home
one day; she was lost and barack helped her navigate her way through
town until she was home safe and sound. you can read her account here.
what could have been just a happenstance quickly turned into a divine
appointment. and in the midst of barack leading birkleigh to her place
of rest, she led him to the lord.
she walked the lost son home.
birkleigh asked me to interview her new friend and make a video
to showcase his story for the world to see. my hope is that you will
watch this video and that your heart will be moved with compassion to
do something. to pray. to give. to go. we just found out that one of our
contacts is going to pay for barack to go to bible college in
tanzania. he starts april 7th. please keep him in your prayers has he
continues to grow in the lord.
