Poured Out – Part 1

These are the events of November 14, 2014 written for God’s Glory.

After our breakfast of porridge in Zimba Village we all met together in a classroom. Fourteen world racers and twelve locals met to discuss how we would be doing evangelism that day. My group ended up being Darron, Kayla, myself and three locals: Sims, Howard, and Thomas. Our ministry contact gave us a word of encouragement before we left and I felt the Holy Spirit whispering that this is why I was here, this is what I came to do, be bolder than I ever have before. So we set out, the six of us, and got to our first cluster of mud-brick, thatched roof homes. Thomas suggested we each split off (one racer and local each) to cover more homes then we would come together at the end and move to the next cluster of homes. I got paired with Thomas who is probably in his late 60’s and oversees 80 churches in the area. We get to the first home and there is no one there, so we continue on down the path, ‘but wait don’t we need to meet up with our friends?’ ‘We will meet up later’ he says. ‘No problem.’ We make it to the next home and there are people. The father of the home welcomes us and says that by welcoming you we are honoring the God who sent you. Wisdom, straight up wisdom. ‘What can I bring? Why am I here? What do You want me to say?’ Thomas introduces us as we take their handmade wooden chairs under a thatched roof place of meeting. I shared a little of my testimony and how Christ’s love has changed my life. I felt led to simply encourage them in their walk with Christ and pray for them. They needed rain for their crops so I took them to the end of James and Thomas translated. I told them that the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. That you and I are righteous only by the blood of Jesus, what He did for us at Calvary. I prayed for the Lord to bless their family and to bless them with rain today. I encouraged them to pray bold prayers and gave the father of the house a word of encouragement. We then said our goodbyes and headed on down the path. The whole day it was hot and dry with few clouds. By the time we finished with ministry that afternoon it was pouring. Praise the Lord, He is good! 🙂
