Its Sunday morning on June 29th. That’s right… 29th. The day after the 28th and I’m not with my crew. Though they may be hundreds of miles away, I feel like I’m right there with them. At 4am this morning, I got a very anticipated call from Tara. I hate being woken up in the middle of the night, but this time I had to make an exception. It was a call from the July World Race team as they spent some of their last few hours in the Miami airport getting ready to start one of the most exciting chapters of their lives. Even though I was half asleep, it filled my heart with joy to know what my friends and former team was getting ready to embark on. This was really happening! I fought hard to keep my “cool guy” composure as they passed around the phone to one another and let me nag into their ears one (but not last) more time. Once I hung up, I thought to myself that that was gonna be the last time for now that I would get to hear their voices together. I immediately felt called to go pray for them. I took a walk to a near by spot where I could sit in silence and think of them as I soon watched the sun rise. It always make me laugh how God brings certain people into your life and for how long. I’ve had all sorts of friends in my life just like anyone has. Good friends. Bad friends. One day friends. Seasonal friends. Lifetime friends. God has brought a lot of amazing people into my life. Right now, I’m bummed, but proud to say that an awesome group of believers are getting ready to live an entire year trusting in the Lord with their every action while traveling the globe. A team of young adults like myself who love believe in the idea of living in a small, but mighty, God-centered community. A fantastic squad who will help every last individual they encounter even if it means praying with strangers until the end of time. That’s what I wanna ask you. I want to challenge you to pray an entire year for these guys. For people you’ve never met or may never even see in person ever. I challenge you to take it upon yourself and follow their adventures around the world. Subscribe to their blogs and see who you think you can connect with. I guarantee that if you have a pulse, then one of these warriors of the July World Race team will suck you into their journey of searching to serve the Lord in the simplest and most radical ways possible. Keep them in thought and prayer as they willing and trustingly go into some of the darkest parts of the world and shine His light. I was blessed to get to know this team very well and can now call them family. They need our help more than ever. Through prayer, encouragement, or maybe even finances. Many of them have left their “life” behind to further His kingdom and won’t be receiving a pay check for over a year.
