Dear
I hope you are doing well! I personally have been doing phenomenally and have lots of exciting things going on. Between school, work, volunteering and church activities I’ve had my hands full and am going through a lot of personal change. I am currently finishing up my freshman year at Northwest Florida State College and am working as a server at a local restaurant. I have also become increasingly active volunteering in the church and as a result I am excited to say I will soon be starting a summer internship with Crosspoint United Methodist Church in Niceville. My BIG NEWS is that I have answered the call to serve in missions and to share the gospel with the broken world that we live in!
Over the past several months, while whole-heartedly seeking Christ with a renewed fire in my heart, I have felt a calling to ministry. What began as service volunteering and serving in our local church has transformed into a larger plan for a short-term mission trip – The World Race Gap Year.
The World Race is a program affiliated with Adventures In Missions. Beginning in September I will be embarking on a 9-month mission trip to Thailand, South Africa and Nicaragua. In each country my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to preach the Gospel, plant churches, work in orphanages, minister to women and children trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, and bring the restorative hope of the Father’s love to many tribes and nations. One of the unique things about the World Race is that it is not only a mission trip but also an intensive discipleship program designed to launch my generation into our specific kingdom calling. During this trip, in addition to spreading the love of Christ to others, I am also seeking His plan for me in service to His kingdom.
There will be many challenges during this journey, but as I prepare for my departure, one of my greatest challenges is financial support. Like most other missions organizations, World Race participants are required to fundraise financial support. In order to leave fully funded on September 4th I will need to raise $12,491. This amount will cover all of my field expenses for the entirety of the trip. I will be investing financially with earnings from my two part-time jobs. I would like to invite you, my friends, family and loved ones, to prayerfully consider joining me with a donation. This can be a one-time or recurring monthly donation. As I have been praying and preparing for this trip I have come to realize that the giver and the receiver must acknowledge that their life and their resources are not their own. The act of giving and receiving breed a spiritual humility that brings each party into closer communion with God by acknowledging that everything belongs to Him.
Lastly, and most importantly, this mission trip will require steadfast prayer. I ask that you pray for me, my teammates and those who I will be encountering throughout this trip.
I would like to thank you in advance for your time and consideration. Whether it is through prayer, financial support, or both, I appreciate you very much.
