Hello everyone, I hope this update finds you well.  I have been able to find a wifi source about two and a half hours away from the village of Kokotsha where I’m staying, in the town of Tsabong where we get our supplies (food).  I’m going to get straight to the point… Africa is amazing! God is doing so much in the lives of these people! We came here with no ministry assignment, no place to sleep accept a plot of land to set up our tents, and honestly, not much knowledge of where in the world we were. We had to make our own ministry, and all we had to work with was what was in our backpacks.

When we first arrived in the village, we met the Khosi (the chief of the village) to ask permission to stay in Kokotsha.  He was a very nice man and warmly welcomed us to his village.  After our meeting with the chief, we walked throughout Kokotsha meeting the people of the town. We went to the village school and met with the teachers, then to the local clinic to meet the nurses and patients, and finally to the village office to meet the workers.  We told them all why we were in their village, and that God had sent us to Kokotsha to serve them in whatever way we could.  We told them that we didn’t have any handouts to give them.  We could only share with them what God has given us; our hands to hold theirs, our feet to walk beside them in their troubles, our lips to declare the praises of God, and our knees to bend on daily in prayer for them and their village.

We now go to the clinic throughout the week to meet with the nurses and patients.  We sing worship songs to them, share God’s Word with them, and pray over them.  We used one of the rooms in the clinic to pray over a woman last week, and when she left, another one came in, and then another and then another, it was incredible!  The nurses now allow us to use that room as a permanent prayer room!  Patients come in and we declare health and freedom over their lives! Women and men leave the room laughing, crying, dancing, and filled with the hope of God!  Women have even started bringing in their babies for prayer and dedication! Hallelujah! Our other ministries in Kokotsha include playing volley ball with the villagers, walking around the village with a guitar and singing to the people, and we are now trying to start men’s and women’s bible studies.

God has been revealing so much to me through our ministry here in Kokotsha, and through my quiet time studying the Psalms.  David continually cried out to God in both joy and despair, and God answered him in mighty ways just as He is doing here in Botswana.  God is changing many lives in this little village, but most of all he is changing mine!  He is so present here that I can feel Him walking beside me throughout the day! Just as there is beauty and uniqueness in the simplicity of the Gospel, there is tremendous beauty and uniqueness amongst the simplicity of the Kalahari.  With a tent over my head, some goat meat and eggs in my belly, and a hard day of work behind me, I can lay on my pillow at night with a smile on my face and thank God for all He has blessed me with that day. I am very excited to see what God will do with the rest of our time here in Botswana. Goodbye for now, thank you for your support, and please continue to keep my team and the people of Kokotsha in your prayers.
