Is this real life?
I have been asking myself this question all week. Here I am at Launch (a week of training and briefing before we leave the country) just in awe of our mighty God. I am so so so excited for this coming year. I know it isn’t going to be easy. I know it’s going to be messy. I am going to be made uncomfortable. But you know what, that’s what I want. I know that at the end of this journey I will not be the same person. I know that God is going to be the one to change me and he is using this trip to do so.
Before arriving to Launch I knew we were going to have extra training on Storytelling. What I didn’t know was that I was going to become the storyteller. The plan had changed they told us. My squad and I were going to be the ones documenting most of the journey. Each team was getting a production equipment bag…
Is this real life?
Look at the pic below… We have all those tools to use to share their stories with all of you. That is crazy amazing! The stories we capture will be used by Gray Media to create a reality docuseries about the World Race.
Is this real life? Am I really a part of this? Wow. I am truly honored and humbled to be a part of it.
I’m going to tell you that at first this all freaked me out a little. I was now going to be more involved than I originally thought and that scared me. My insecurities started to creep in however those fears were quickly gone. My prayer was to be stretched and here was a way to do so. So who are the people of Gray Media? Well it’s Maureen Gray, Tim Gray, Olivia Gray, Trey Hill, Kelly King, and Steve Rokks. They however are not just Gray Media they are also a part of the K squad family 🙂
So for the last couple days we have been schooled on how to tell stories. They have shown us the mechanics of it but most importantly shown us the value that our own story holds. The value that the stories we will hear hold. How someone else’s story can have an affect on others and needs to be told. This is beautiful. We will be going into places where people’s stories have not been told and I truly believe it is our job… my job to share them.At one of our storytelling sessions Trey Hill said “Look at the broken and bring out the beauty” when talking about the idea of framing the world. This struck a chord with me. I want people to know the value their stories hold. I want them to know that we all have mess and brokenness in our story but we have God’s grace to cover it all no matter how bad we think it is. That to me is the beauty of it.
With Love,
Paola
