The following list includes (of course) 11 observations, validations, and lessons learned during training camp.
1. Love is a choice. I chose to love my squad from the very moment we met. I choose to love every part of them not just the “good” parts. This isn’t easy but just as Jesus loves us wholly I strive to do the same knowing that.
2. I over-packed… Enough said.
3. Vulnerability is not a weakness. The times that my squad mates and I were the most vulnerable were the times that I felt the deepest connection with them.
4. It’s ok not to be ok. We all have our “stuff” and we don’t have to have it all together. We just have to own up to it, choose to continue to listen to the Holy Spirit, and be willing to change.
5. Speak life into people. Is what you’re saying going to edify that person?
6. Constructive feedback sucks however constructive feedback given by someone you know LOVES you and wants to edify you doesn’t suck as much. It’s not what you say but how you say it.
7. Sharing is caring… Deodorant anyone?
8. Not knowing the schedule is OK! Talk about being completely present in every moment/activity/situation throughout the week.
9. Boxes are for things. Boxes are not for people and especially not for our mighty God so don’t put them in it. Be ready to listen, to pray, to cry, to laugh, to sing, to dance and even to crowd surf (thank you John Michael).
10. You are where you are meant to be. I knew this. God kept telling me this all week. However when I did have my moment of doubt my lovely squad leader gave me some encouragement.
11. My squad is dee BEST! My team is fanTAStick! These are my people. My family has grown immensely
