What is the World Race?

The World Race defined is a journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve the “least of these” while living in real, raw community.  It’s a new year to follow Jesus into broken places that need Him.  I picture Him knocking on doors in these third-world countries, and we are following Him inside.

What kind of work will you be doing?

World Racers get their hands dirty in all kinds of ministry!  My team may be

  • Teaching English
  • Evangelizing door-to-door
  • Building churches
  • Fighting human trafficking
  • Caring for the homeless
  • Providing orphans with homes
  • Ministering through prayer
  • Preaching in the streets
  • Reaching out to prostitutes
  • Feeding the hungry

Which countries will you visit?

Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, Nepal, and India!

Who will you be working with in each country?

My team and I will be assigned to local churches and ministries to enable long-term missionaries to extend their reach and deepen their impact.

Who’s on your team?

I have 6 team-mates and I’m so excited to spend next year with them!  I met them last week at training camp.  Meet Devin, Gabe, Sara, Aimee, Jill, and Caity by clicking on the link on the left, “Meet my team: Vagabonds!”

How’s your fundraising going?

I’m 33% funded!!  Praise God!  $5,200 down, $10,300 to go!  I’m super grateful to all of you who have so generously helped me to get this far.  In doing so, you’re setting your feet in the nations too!

Do you have two separate funds?

Yes I do!  One is under Adventures in Missions (AIM), and the other is personal.

How is your Adventures in Missions (AIM) fund used?

If you donate to my AIM fund, it is directly contributed to the $15,500 need.  And what happens to that?  It pays for 11 months of expenses for meals, lodging, air, land, and sea travel; administrative costs, set-up costs, coaching costs, debriefing costs, and training camp costs.

$15,500 is a lot of money, but it’s actually very close to what I would have needed to live in the Middle East for 11 months.

How are the funds used on the field?

From aimeeluallin.theworldrace.org

45% for intercontinental travel
19% for lodging
13% for food
12% for long distance travel and misc. supplies

11% for transportation

How would I send donations for the AIM fund?

Just click on the link on the left that says, “Support me!”, and it will take you where you need to go.

How is your personal fund used?

I have to cover the remaining expenses on my own, including medical insurance, vaccinations, hygiene, travel to the start point (in the U.S.), travel home from a major U.S. city at the end of the Race, a computer and a camera, and an emergency fund (for example, if a country is colder than I anticipated and I need to buy a coat and blanket).

What have you received for your personal fund?

  • Lots of camping gear!
  • Half the money for medical insurance
  • $135 for Bibles to distribute!
How much do you still need?
  • $320 for the remaining cost of medical insurance
  • Roughly $2,000 to cover the rest of the expenses mentioned above.
  • $192 for a new camera to replace my broken one.
  • $500 for a new computer.

Maybe you don’t know if helping me buy a “toy” is such a great idea; but my 17-in. laptop is too large for my limited packing space and is not durable for travel.  So without it I won’t have Internet to contact
home next year. The iPad is compact for limited
        packing space.

How would I send donations for the personal fund?

If you would like to donate toward this fund, please send me an email and I’ll give you information.  [email protected]

The AIM fund is tax-deductible and the personal fund is not.

        Quick bit of info!

From the personal donations I’ve received, I’ve set aside a small portion toward buying Bibles overseas.  I want to buy them in African, Hispanic, and Asian languages to give them out while my team and I are ministering.  That will depend on whether there’s a Bible society in the area and if my hosts agree to distribute them.  But it’s adding up, and I have $135 so far!

         Thanks for visiting my blog!
