Since I have been on this trip there have been many things happening:
1. I rode a train. It had no air-conditioning, the toilet was like a port-a-potty that was turned upside down, and was 16 hours long; however, the Lord kept us safe and in good spirits.
2. Not being understood because I don’t speak their language. This will be a very common thing for me. It is pretty hard to find places and things when you cannot speak their language. A lot of times I feel like I am playing Charades and Pictionary. I will be awesome at these games! Dang, when they do understand what you are asking you can’t understand because they can’t speak your language so the games begin again. Bahaha.
3. Living in hostels. Interesting experience. Sometimes the doors don’t lock so you might get walked in on by a fellow hostel stayer. All you can do is smile and keep on keeping on.
4. Eat foods that you normally don’t eat. In Romania, we had such small portions, but here in Bulgaria our portions are so big. We feel sick from eating so much. I also keep getting my hopes up high when they say we will be having salad. I keep thinking “YES!” but thinking of lettuce. No, salad here is just cut up tomatoes. Ugh. For those of you who don’t know, tomatoes make me sick to my stomach and I don’t like the taste. Well, I have eaten some almost every meal. We also eat a lot of bread and pasta. So food wise this month is hard on me.
5. Washing clothes in the shower with me or in a bucket with body soap. Then hanging them on a make-shift clothes line in our bedroom. We also washed some on the water slide the kids made. Best way to do laundry EVER!
6. Playing volleyball where all you see around you are magnificent mountains.
7. Having God answer prayers within minutes of praying.
8. Constantly sweating!! I feel like I have not stopped sweating since I left America. Sweat those pounds away! 😉
9. Performing a song in front of a group in a different country. Embarrassing! They enjoyed it though.
10. Being very emotional as I shared my testimony to everyone at the camp.
11. Living in community.
12. Traveling to foreign lands through faith alone. Finding out information about everything as we arrive and making accommodations ourselves in foreign lands has been such a faith booster. The Lord has been leading us and providing for us every step of the way.
13. I am successful at using the squatty potty!! Thank you thank you (As I bow). I know I feel so accomplished. Is it weird that I might prefer this at the moment?
14. I now throw all of my toilet paper away in the trash can. Even at normal toilets all toilet paper goes into the trash can and not the actual toilet. It took a few times to get used to it. I guess North America might just be different than the rest of the world in this aspect. Haha. It will be hard to break me of this habit when I get home so I apologize ahead of time.
There are big plans coming that I will let you know about soon!! Very exciting! I am still about $9,000 away from being fully funded. Please help me make my deadline in September. I really need the healing the Lord is giving me on this journey. I love you all so much!
