After an overnight train ride, a 4 hour plane ride to Qatar, an 8 hour plane ride to Johannesburg, and an hour bus ride….we have arrived here in Pretoria, South Africa!
Welcome.
Now here are 11 things you should know.
- This is the first month our team has been alone. And we’re PUMPED.
- Our contacts this month, Erica and Louie, are some of the sweetest people I have ever met.
- Ministry this month looks like….working in a garden used to provide food for those we are serving; closing down a couple of the training stations (because of Holiday) and preparing for reopening in January; ‘doing life’ with our contacts and encouraging them in their efforts here; visiting squatter camps in the area and being light there; and well, just listening to the Spirit and letting Him lead.
- They drive on the ‘wrong’ side of the rode here and well…..you WILL be scared every time you get in a car.
- The weather here is about 70-80 with daily showers and the most glorious African thunderstorms. GOLDEN
- Peanut Butter comes in LARGE quantities here. Yes, this is real life.
- We only have internet for about an hour once a week so bear with me.
- There are 10 African Languages spoken here:
Afrikaans
isiZulu
Sesotho
Setswana
isiXhosa
isiNdebele
isiSwati
Tshivenda
Sepedi
Xitsonga
9.Out of all these languages none of them have a word for ‘future’. This silly fact points to a deeper issue.
10.A bit of a side note, our route has been changed. Instead of spending our last month in Vietnam, we will be spending it in Malaysia.
I’m so exited to jump into ministry this month. Please keep me and my team in your prayers. For boldness, perseverance, provision, opportunities, and continued intimacy amongst our team and with our Father.
