One of the ministries we’ve been working with is New Life—a rehabilitation home for minor boys who are getting out of jail. Jodi is a former World Racer that started this ministry after she finished the World Race. It is really awesome to see the redemption and the love of Christ in the boys there. It’s humbling to see the lives of these boys so transformed by Christ.
One boy, Jeremy* went to school up until first grade. He then lived in the mountains with a rebel group. When he was fifteen he killed a man and was put in jail. Jodi while on the World Race shared the hope of the gospel to him while he was in jail. She came back after her race finished and began the process of getting him, a murderer out of jail so that he could have a new life. The boys live in a home together with a house parent. They are learning some trades so they are able to make some money. They take classes, because many of them have had very limited education. I think something that touched me the most was when Jodi told us that Jeremy told her that he was really thankful for her because he didn’t know that he could learn. How humbling to an American to hear that. We have a right to education. This boy didn’t even know he could learn until he was 15. What a great God we serve to bring hope to the hopeless, to bring freedom to the imprisoned!
"I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly." John 10:10
