…It all started in Thailand…mostly…
I was sitting on a mat in a room full of strangers annoyed with my lack
of meditation skills. I rambled the list of cliche phrases I associated
with “being present” to myself.
“I’m on a journey. I am with these people. These people are on journeys. We are on journeys together.”
I snapped my back, aching from hours of sitting crossed-legged, up
straight. I realized I was really paying attention to myself and the
people around me, I was only thinking of the here and now. I was being
present! I was meditating! Giving myself a mental pat on the back I
said to the Lord “look God, I’m meditating and I really AM on a
journey!”
He replied back “Ha! You have no idea.”
He wasn’t kidding.
Four months later I am writing this as a future World Racer. I am 25yrs
old and came to Christ 2 years ago. It has been a crazy bumpy ride and
the Lord does not cease to surprise me!
pedestrians, bikers and drivers, public parks with monuments dedicated
to ether, Harvard and apparently the cutest squirrels in existence
because people come from all over the world and can’t seem to take
enough photos of the little guys chewing nuts.
be a little hard to ramble about myself so I asked my roommates what to say and copied Angie (thanks
girl!) and posted my facebook notes about myself.
1. i like to fix things myself ie. disk men, vacuums, cds floating
around inside computers, then i flex the guns and let everyone know who
wears the pants in this house
2. I am not quite 5 ft tall.
3. i have experienced the supernatural, miracles and God, therefore i
believe in: the supernatural, miracles and God, yaaaaaay Jesus! hes a
cool guy, you should meet him
4. spelling does not, does not make any sense to me
5. my dad whom i literally feared for good reason till i was 19, is one my best friends
6. i go back and fourth between being unreasonably shy and completely the opposite, often within a few moments
7. i love to paint/create portraits of not so great photos
8.i like to say “photos” instead of ” pictures”
9. cable tv is way too overwhelming to me
10. I am going to write a screenplay
11. i love babies and little kids, till they are about 5 and can start to reason and argue with you, then…not so much..
12. the extent of my missions experience is living with 4 non-Christians.
13. i hate woman’s magazines, and MTV is hugely responsible for the moral and cultural downfall of the youth of this country.
14. I am so excited to live in the kind of community described in Acts.
15.the only foods i dont like:
a. tapioca( its not even that bad but a little slimy),
b. whole olives (they smell so good and i have tried to enjoy them
whole but i just cant, but i do greatly enjoy oils, spreads
and…pretty much all other olive products)
c. licorice <—–this is disgusting.
I seriously love food. its kind of a problem sometimes, a gooey, cheesy, problem, mmmmmmm yeah…
16. im liberal but quite conservative when it comes to random things like swearing on tv and radio etc. totally not necessary
17. i have a mini schnauzer, she is my baby.
18. one of the best things I have ever done was spend a day feeding elephants and washing them in a river with a scrub brush.
19. i absolutely love my job, and my bosses. its awesome
20. when something is attached to your body and then detaches from your
body it is then body waste and therefore is gross, especially hair,
uuuughhh! if its wet, ie. in the drain, dont even talk about it, i have
pretty sensitive gag reflex….not so hungry anymore…
21. i love muscular therapy (massage therapy) but i don’t want to do it any more
22. the love of my life (thus far) was at least 17 inches taller than me, maybe 18 1/2
23. i enjoy cursing old ladies, i mean old ladies that curse, not me
cursing them, who do you think i am? I work for one, she is bitter on
the outside but loving on the inside
24. I love to dance and a dance called 5 rhythms had a huge effect on how I saw my life.
25. i like to sing in the privacy of my shower 😀
