I am sure that all across the US and Canada today, my team members were being commissioned at their churches to go out into the world and reach some lives.
It was a very emotional day for me. I got to walk into church one last time. I got to hear Pastor’s service one last time. I got to play with the band one last time. I got to talk with people one last time. I don’t think I realize yet just how much I am going to miss all that. My church has been a home to me for a long time, and I’ve started to grow up spiritually there. To me, everyone there is a friend for life. It will be tough to make it without them!
The sermon today was on simplicity. Make sure you have what you need in life and make sure you don’t let the wants become your focus. It just made me think about all that we are leaving behind, and taking only a backpack with us…I hope we have this concept figured out!
A week from today we’ll be flying from Miami down to Santo Domingo, and I can hardly believe it. What happened to the last few months? The good news is that we’re ready to go. We’re not quite at our financial target, so we’ll have to put some funds into our account…but that’s not a big deal to us. We just have to make sure we have some funds to return home to! Packing will happen some time this week, but why rush it, right? 🙂
