Training camp is an amazing place.  I am writing to you from day 5 of our 8 day experience.  It has been a chance to step away from everything else going on in the world and just focus on God.  It is a time of spiritual awakening and a time of reflection – an opportunity to get to know better who I am though God.  He has a purpose for me, and this has been a chance to find out what it is.  We arrived at camp with unsure expectations and did all we could to ready ourselves for what was to come.  We have been challenged from that very moment to meet and get to know the names and hearts of the 50 people that will be out there racing with us.  We’ve had the honor of meeting powerful men and women of God who are very open and very real – and they have stretched us almost to the point of breaking.

I have been able to draw closer to God in this time.  I have discovered many of my hurts and things that I needed to turn over to God.  We went through a long, grueling, but very blessed spiritual walk where we were able to leave our burdens at the foot of the cross.  Talk about powerful!  I’ve also had the opportunity to get to draw closer to my wife over the last few days.  It has been amazing to see the Lord work in her and see how she has grown, and I can only hope that we continue to grow closer with each day!

With three and a half days to go, the final days of training camp are still a big mystery.  What else do we need to experience to be truly broken in Christ?  When we get back from training camp, how will life be different even before we go on the race?  How strong will we need to be during the race?  What will happen to us afterwards?  The good news is, as long as we are in God’s hands, we will be in the perfect place!
