In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps. Proverbs 16:9
So its been awhile since I have blogged and I really apologize for that! So here it is..
My month in Roatan was just incredible! I was reunited with friends after a whole year. It had been exactly a year to the month since I left the Friend Ships ministry. I couldn't believe that God had brought me all the way to Roatan exacctly one year after with the World Race and my new team that I will be with the rest of the year. My team Sweet Aroma got quickly acquainted with the FS crew and everyone seemed to get along really well. Friend Ships main ministry in the states is disaster relief but the Roatan base is really important. They do a lot for the island through the churches there and help build people's trust in the churches. Friend Ships does a lot of outreaches as well in the different communities on the island, whether it is at an orphanage, a feeding program or just walking through some of the towns and sharing Jesus with people. They mostly have a small crew of about 10-15 people. The island is not very big and FS has been on the island since 1989 so everyone there knows about FS and they have a great reputation with everyone.
We did all sorts of things for them during our time on the island. Jason and I did a lot of grass cutting with machetes and we really just helped take the workload of off the crew there this past month. A lot of the crew was just really tired and God brought us at the perfect time to come along and encourage, strengthen and just help take some of the work load off. The girls did gardening and also helped crew memeber David pick fruit from the many ripened fruit trees! Our days were very full and long with lots of sun, humidity, and all kinds of creepy crawlies! Each week we went to either Sandy Bay Lighthouse Orphanage,or a school feeding, and we also helped in the community Punta Gorda painting and working with a pastor there. The girls were really great and stretched in new ways, and it was really encouraging to see them work so hard with such great attitudes. Our weekends were really fun. We got to go to the beach and just hang out and swim in the 78 degree water!

My month in Roatan was just so full! I was grateful for the time to reconnect with friends that I had once lived with and just to hear their stories of this past year and what God was showing them and doing in their lives. Many of them will be moving on soon to different things, so it was really cool to hear all that they have in mind and that the Lord has set in their hearts for the next season of their lives. Friend Ships was a new contact for the World Race, so I am excited to see if it could be a possible long term destination for future World Racers.
