I want to share with you what God has been putting on my heart these past couple of weeks.

Here in Fang, Thailand we are working with a government run school, teaching high schoolers English. This means the teachers and students aren’t Christians. The six of us live inside the campus in a small house. We have a pretty great setup here with wifi, comfy beds to sleep on, a big grocery store, markets, and loads of other things. We are basically living normal lives; just in Thailand.  But at times it’s hard to see the ministry here. In the previous weeks we had gone out and searched for ministry such as going out into the villages and evangelizing to the people, or teaching little kids about Jesus.

Here it’s different. I am constantly having to remind myself why I am here. I have been reminded by Jesus that I am not just living here waiting for the days to pass by until I get to go home again. I’m not just here passing the time to go on to my next country. I’m not just here to say that I have been to Thailand.

God has given me this incredible opportunity to go to other countries to share his wonderful love and mercy. Why am I wasting it by sitting around at the house on my computer or phone? Why aren’t I seeking out people to pray for or someone to share my testimony with?! I’ll tell you why, because it’s easier to for me sit at home where I am comfortable than to go out and search for the uncomfortable.

Though God is telling me something different. He has brought me out here to be more intimate with him. That means leaving my comforts behind to follow him.

He has shown me that there is always the opportunity to share His love with others anywhere and anytime. You can do it at your house with the people you love or you can do it at your workplace. You can even do it at a school in a foreign country. Even if it’s the simple things like sharing your testimony with a friend or sitting through a hard time with your co-worker, that’s ministry. Jesus gives us those opportunities, so why aren’t we taking them?!

Choosing to set boundaries on things sounds like a crazy idea. I ask “Why would I do that when I am comfortable with the way things are?” Jesus makes us uncomfortable so we can be closer to him, so we can choose Him. To make boundaries means to choose him instead of your earthly desires.

You will never go wrong when you choose the father over your wants.
