“Those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And to him we cry, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs- heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his suffering in order that we may also share in his glory.”
Romans 8:14-17
God is king and we are his children, which makes us princesses and princes. And we are to be treated as such. Women on the street in prostitution are not treated like the princesses they are. That is why we invited them to a Princesa Party. Saturday and Sunday night, as well as Monday during the day, a group of us went out into the streets to invite women such as these to a party at our house on Tuesday. It was an invitation to get them off the streets and do something most of them have never done before, enjoy themselves next to a pool. Along with this invitation was also an invitation to the Breaking Chains program, getting them off the streets for good, showing them God’s love, and one day inviting Jesus into their hearts. With them coming to this party, they are one step closer to getting out of the lifestyle Satan wants them to be in. Steven said as we went out into the streets to invite them, we were going into Satan’s layer and plucking them out of his hands. But he has no authority over them….God does! This women and girls are God’s children and he has already won the victory over them! He died so they may be free and that goes for all of us! Jesus died for each and every one of us so we may be FREE!! We are declaring FREEDOM over these women in Jesus’ name!
The Princesa Party was a success. We had a total of 48 women and some of them brought their children, so we had about 84 kids! The pool was packed with kids. I was one of the lifeguards along with Rachel and Jourdan and it was chaos. Most of the kids don’t know how to swim, but would jump in the pool regardless, and they would jump on top of each other. No one got hurt and no one drowned. It was a success! We had 23 of the women sign up for the program. Only 12 of them can be in the program at one time. Now begins the elimination process. Steven and Kenia are praying the Lord reveals to them who is to stay. In the program, the women are given 500 cordoba (25 cordoba = $1) at the end of each week to feed their family and to put into savings. Many of them come just to get the money, but Steven has been doing this for a long time and knows who is here to be healed and who solely wants money.
Today the women from yesterday returned and were interviewed about their lives to again help Steven and Kenia make their decisions. My team and I watched the kids some of the women brought (not nearly as many as yesterday), and we took them away from their moms because they needed to meet. A few of them were not happy to leave their moms. One boy about 3 or 4 years old was screaming on the top of his lungs. He was thrashing around kicking and screaming. I stayed with this little boy and tried and tried to get him to calm down. We went into another room so he would not disrupt the other children. I was trying to distract him with toys. Tried to get him to play games with me. Sarah also had a screaming child, so she and I were in the room together and decided to sing songs to calm them down such as “Jesus Loves Me” and “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” and “Deep and Wide” and “This Little Light of Mine”. It didn’t work. We prayed the Lord would send PEACE over these children. And then we decided to color and paint with them. The little girl Sarah was with was not happy and ended up peeing all over the floor (Eek!). But the little boy I was with eventually stopped crying. It was a miracle! I was determined to stay with him until he stopped. He cried and screamed for a good 30 minutes before he stopped. My ears are still ringing from all the screaming.
This is what Jesus does with us. It doesn’t matter how much we fight it; how much we kick and scream; how much we cry, he is always with us and he doesn’t leave us. He is standing next to us with open arms to run into when we are done crying. He wants to love us and he does love us unconditionally.
We will continue this week doing activities with the ladies and childcare. Hopefully tomorrow goes much better than today in the child department. Pray of no screamers and criers!
I am thankful we get to be here at the beginning of this 90 day program to get these women off the streets and into a home and a healthy life with their families. God has done amazing work in many lives already and I know he will continue.
Pray for discernment of Steven and Kenia.
Pray these women will want to be here.
Pray they will open up their hearts and minds for what we have for them.
Pray my team and I will love on all of them and live up to our team name…AGAPE!
