One of the most random moments I had as a foster parent was the time I had 2 days to plan a wedding for one of my girls. Little did I know this would turn out to be a little WR prep…

Eddie and Miriam are a sweet young couple that have been volunteering with Shofar Ministries for the past several months. They were legally married at the courthouse a few months ago, but they really wanted to get married in a church so that they felt like their commitment was made in God’s eyes. The problem was that they didn’t have any money.

After being here in Puerto Barrios for about a week, the director Paul told me and Becca about this. Instantly we wanted to help. As I told Paul about my 2-day planning experience he got excited about doing this, so we decided to present this opportunity to the rest of the team. After a small discussion we all agreed… it was time to make Eddie and Miriam’s dream become a reality!

We spent our last week here in Puerto Barrios helping them plan their wedding. We talked to a minister, ordered a cake, got decorations, and found a dress! God was totally in the details of it all:

When the guys went shopping there was only one shirt left, and it was the exact size Eddy needed

We just happen to have some very talented musician AND photographers on our team

Five days after we started planning, the wedding was held in Eddie’s village. We got there a little early to help start decorating and then had lunch with Eddie’s family. After lunch some of the girls helped Miriam get ready, Brandi Jo and Brooks got the music set up, and some of the team played with the kids.  The wedding itself was beautiful and there was no doubt that Eddie and Miriam were so excited. It was an incredible blessing for all of us to have this chance to honor our new friends with their special day!
