Some of you may not know this about me and others of you know this very well about me. But I love Celine. I also really love my blue jeans. Putting the two together and I am certain to have the best day ever.
Do you ever have those days when you just want to crawl in bed and not leave? Or you just want to read all day or you need to escape the world? It may be hard to think that on the race we too have those days. In the midst of community aka living with 5 other people non stop for months, doing ministry, organizing transportation from one city to the next, or taking bucket showers daily sometimes we do have our days…or moments where we need our ‘day in bed’. For me I need my blue jeans and Celine.
Next question: why Celine?
Awesome question. She is basically amazing. She carries a presence that everyone wants to be in. The songs she sings are just mood changing, powerful, and fun. Any one of her songs is destined to excite you, make you dance, or inspire. And she does have amazing power stance when she sings.
Why blue jeans?
Blue jeans are diverse. You can wear them with or for anything. Like dressy blue jeans, work jeans, dirty jeans, comfy jeans, dancing jeans, or the ones you aren’t sure why you have them but you do. You put jeans on and you walk in a bit more confidence. Jeans can change your mentality of how you look at yourself. Here on the race I’ve found much comfort in my blue jeans.
Jesus…?
Maybe at this point in my blog you may be thinking, ‘why is Nikki writing this blog?’ OR “does this have some spiritual metaphor I missed?’ Maybe there is some relation to Jesus in these two loves of mine but for now just know that Celine and blue jeans make a great soup for a great day. When you are on the race these are things you think about. Yes, today I wore my blue jeans with a nice Indian shirt, I also had a dance party with my teammates to Celine, and then we went on the roof to have some worship tonight. Just another day…
