Freedom: “noun–the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint”

All over the writings of Paul he talks about being a slave yet at the same time being free. Its funny how these go together. Freedom is also something our country prides itself on…Freedom. We are free to do whatever we want. It’s your choice, your life..do what you want. I mean shoot, we send people to fight and defend our freedom. My point here is just the differant thoughts on freedom.

Yesterday I began to see freedom and experiance for myself. I was catching up with a friend and she began to talk about her major and how she wasn’t sure if she should apply to a certain department. Now let me just say she is amazing at photography and has a real eye for art. She fails to think that God would allow her to do what she is so passionate about. That this loving God we serve would rather her be misserable. So her struggle was whether to apply for the art department. She said she has this idea that life in Christ has to be a struggle and that theres no way this could be possible…its too easy. As i listened to her i realized how true this is for me. I told my friend that God desires us to have peace, and joy, and rest…He desires our hearts. What it comes down to she and i  both have not been walking…living in this freedom Paul speaks of. We don’t live in bondage or in unhappiness as she and I thought. Today i sit writing this with a lot of doubt and fear gone. To proclaim truth…God is good! He loves His people and has gone ahead of us; paving the way for us to walk down. I hope to bring a bit of this freedom to those i meet over the next year; i hope to enlighten the world of this new way of thinking….free yet slave.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Gal. 5:1)
Also Martin Luther King Jr. said something great …”An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.”

We are just begining to live…
