How often do we ask…and sometimes scream “Why God…?”

‘Why” is a valid question. The whole book of Habakuk walks us through a questioning of God. We see Habakuk coming to God and asking the ‘why’ questions. Its important to see Habakuk’s heart though. He’s not trying to twist God or catch Him in something; no he’s humbly come before the Lord searching…
In light of recent events of our world, I too have been asking ‘why’. Like earthquake in Hatie. Thousands of people dead, destruction everywhere, and lives devastated. Another earthquake in Chile. We have thousands of people without jobs here. Multiple things have happened to people in my church. Death is occuring everytime i turn around. Many times i find myself asking ‘why’? God why are these things happening? My pastor made it very clear that it’s raining….
Some places its seems to be thunder storming.
What do we do in the storms? in the rains? Do we just merely sit back and ask ‘Why?’ Or do you draw closer to God and cry out to Him?
Rob Bell who is a great speaker and author has a video on Rain. He walks through interesting perspective on this rain in our lives. After the rains i see the Earth flourishing with green. Growth comes when the rain comes. I can’t help but relate this to our own selves. But in the midst of our Rains what are we doing? The Psalms speak over and over again about crying out to God in the midst of mess. Psalm 72:12 “For He will rescue the poor who cry and the afflicted who have no helper.” Psalm 34:17 “Is anyone crying for help? God is listening, ready to rescue you.” To quote God, “When you cry out to me, i listen….I cannot ignore the cries of someone who is afflicted.”
So God is not some thing that allows bad things to happen just because. What is God after then? WHY?
God wants our hearts. The old testament is filled with crazy things that happened to the people. The one thing that was constant was God never left them. He saw it through until the end; He brought them out of Egypt. He rescued them as he said He would. So today if you are questioning then question. But remember to CRY. Cry out to God. We don’t get to know everything but we get to trust and draw close to the ONE who does.
