True to World Race fashion, plans have already changed. Our route had us heading to Romania for our next month. However, there are currently 215 racers (January, June and August squads) on the field and we are having a conference in Romania at the end of September so with all those racers on the field there simply aren’t enough contacts for us all to be in Romania at once.
Our team leaders spent a few days in prayer and my team will be pairing up with Team Benkadi and heading to Chisinau, Moldova for 3 weeks before heading to Romania for the conference. I’m so excited; guess I’m doing 12 countries in 11 months.
We’ll be working with Crossover Communications International doing community outreach and counseling programs. Your guess is as good as mine as to what exactly that entails.
I’m not sure I knew Moldova was a country so I was curious as to what this next month would look like. Here are some facts to share:
- Moldova is a landlocked country between Romania and Ukraine.
- Is in contention for the poorest country in Europe; most families live on less than $2 per day.
- Chisinau (where I’ll be) is the capital city of Moldova and is supposedly one of the greenest cities in Europe.
- The tourism focus is indisputably the country’s wine industry.
- Approximately 90% of Moldova’s population claim Eastern Orthodox Christianity as their religious preference.
Not the most exciting blog but I wanted to let you all know what is next for me and my team! It’s hard to believe I’m already leaving for my second country. I’ve enjoyed Ireland, I must say I’m a bit sick of the rain though. My team had Thursday off and did a little sightseeing and got to do some today as well so I promise a blog coming soon with lots of beautiful Ireland pictures.
